18 year old Thomas Schawanke was found at 7:40 A.M. this morning injured in the basement of a Southern Illinois University Edwardsville dormitory. Witnesses that had seen Schawanke earlier said he had been drinking. Police believe Schawanke fell anywhere from two to ten stories down a trash chute around 2:00 A.M. Schawanke is currently being treated at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Hospital officials declined to talk about his condition. Mary Rouse, Dean of Students at the university said that the incident again raises concern about alcohol abuse on campus.

    Mason - keep in mind what is unusual about this story - he fell down a trash chute! That is the lead; get to it right away. Also, check your AP Stylebook for guidance on time (a.m., p.m., etc) Do not start a sentence with a number (like 18); instead, spell the number out.
